Delete your account

You can permanently delete your AUVIA · DLIVRI account and personal data at any time. This page describes the two ways to do it and what happens after.

1. What “delete” means

Deleting your account removes your personal identity from AUVIA. Your name, phone number, email, profile photo, and (for captains) verification documents are permanently removed within 30 days. Your trip history is anonymised — the records remain for financial audit, but they can no longer be linked back to you.

Account deletion is final. Once complete, you cannot recover your account or history. You would need to sign up again from scratch to use AUVIA in the future.

2. How to delete your account

Recommended · takes effect immediately

Option A — Delete from inside the app

  1. Open the AUVIA Rider app (or AUVIA Captain, if you are a driver).
  2. Go to the Profile tab.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
  4. Read the confirmation screen, then type DELETE to confirm.
  5. Verify your identity with the one-time SMS code we send to your registered phone number.
  6. Your account is deleted and you are signed out immediately.

Alternative · processed within 30 days

Option B — Email us to delete on your behalf

If you cannot access the app (lost phone, deactivated number, etc.), send us an email:

  • To: support@auvia.business
  • Subject: Delete my account
  • Body: include your registered phone number and full name so we can locate your account. If you are a captain, also include your Ghana Card number for verification.

We verify the request against your registered contact details and delete your account within 30 calendar days. You'll receive a confirmation email once complete.

3. What is deleted

All of the following are permanently removed:

  • Your full name, phone number, and email
  • Your profile photo and pickup station preferences
  • Saved places and emergency contacts
  • Payment method references (Paystack tokens are revoked on their side too)
  • Captains: Ghana Card image, DVLA licence details, vehicle roadworthiness certificate, and any other uploaded documents
  • In-app support tickets and chat history
  • Your Firebase Authentication record — you can no longer sign in

4. What is retained (and why)

Some records are kept in anonymised, pseudonymised form — meaning they cannot be linked back to you personally, but the record itself must remain for legal or financial audit purposes:

  • Trip and booking records — retained for 3 years to satisfy Ghana Revenue Authority financial audit requirements. Personal identifiers (your name, phone, and Firebase user ID) are replaced with an irreversible pseudonym.
  • Payment records — Paystack transaction references are retained for the same 3-year period. Card numbers and mobile-money identifiers are held by Paystack, not by AUVIA.
  • Aggregated statistics — anonymised ride counts, route usage, and fare distributions used for corridor planning. These do not contain personal identifiers.
  • Safety incident records — if you were involved in a safety incident, the report is retained (with your identity pseudonymised) for as long as required by law.

5. Timeline

  • In-app deletion: immediate. Personal identifiers are removed within seconds of confirmation.
  • Email deletion: up to 30 calendar days from the date we verify your request.
  • Backups and logs: anonymised personal data may persist in backup snapshots for up to 30 additional days before natural expiry. These backups are not accessible to any AUVIA staff.

6. Legal basis

Your right to delete your account is protected under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), and, for visitors from the EU, under the General Data Protection Regulation (Article 17 — right to erasure).

Retention of pseudonymised financial records is required by Ghana Revenue Authority regulations and Ghana's Companies Act; we cannot delete these records earlier than the mandated retention period even at your request.
